I recently read the following comment about online dating: "It’s kind of like going thrift shopping. You really have to search the racks to find a winner, but then it’s one of a kind." And that kind of sums it up. (Really, it sums up all dating). There is a lot of crap out there. A lot of stuff that you look at and think, “never in a million years.”
Like the guys whose profiles say:
“I am passive aggressive and gallant;” or
“i like 4wheeling and sumday want to own a horse ranch on alot of land.”
These guys are the sweat-stained, faded, smelly, XXXL def leppard shirts from 20 years ago.
If you’re patient and willing to take the time to sift through all the crap, you might stumble upon something great. That practically brand new, high end, name brand shirt that looks like it’s just your size and in a great color.
But there’s no guarantee that you’ll find that great shirt. And to find it, you have to keep going back and you have to keep looking through all the crap, because the merchandise is always changing. And even if you find it, there’s always the chance that the shirt won’t fit after all.
And sometimes, I don't feel like shopping at the thrift store. After trip after trip to the thrift store, endlessly sifting through the no ways and the not-quite-rights, I long to go to the regular, full-price store and pick out something I like. That fits. If only it were that easy.
